Today, we awoke at 4:30am to travel to Sorrento so that we could arrive by 12:00pm.  Despite the pain of waking before the sun, the beauty of the destination proved that the long ride was worth the wait.  Sorrento e bella!  Two friends and I walked the city in the evening, visiting the piazzas, beach, and cobble stone paths.  Ultimately we sat down at a taverna along the beach and were serenaded by a 67 year old Italian man who spoke (sang?) to us for two hours.  Although he did not speak much English, we managed to communicate fairly well.  Better yet, the experience helped improve my Italian quite a bit.  If you don’t believe my account of him singing, I have proof below.  We ventured back to the spot for dinner, and enjoyed a meal filled with frute de mare.

Believe it or not, I ended up singing “Cielito Lindo” at some point as he vocally simulated an array of instruments.
